Statement of Faith

God: I believe that there is only one God, the Creator of all things, and that He exists in three parts- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Sin: I believe that all humans are sinners, by nature of the Fall.

Separation: I believe that, as a result of our sinful nature, humans are doomed to be separated from God for all eternity.

Christ’s Life, Sacrifice, and Resurrection: I believe that God came and lived a sinless human life as Jesus Christ. I believe that through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and resurrection three days later, humans have the opportunity to be reunited with God, rather than the eternal separation we deserve.

Salvation: I believe that salvation through Christ’s sacrifice is an option available to all humans, but that it’s a choice which must be consciously and freely made. This choice must be made in this life, before we die. I also believe that salvation is not something a person can lose.

Free Will: I believe that all humans have free will in all things, including the ability to freely choose or not choose salvation.

Christ’s Return: I believe that Christ is coming back for us, as He promised, and that that day is coming soon.

The Bible: I believe that the Bible, within the original languages, cultures, and contexts, is the inerrant Word of God. I also believe it’s possible for translators to make mistakes, and that we must be discerning when studying God’s Word.

Baptism: I believe that baptism is not necessary for salvation, but that Christians must be baptized, if at all possible, for the sake of obedience to God and to recieve the Holy Spirit. Baptism is a sacrament, and must be the choice of the individual to participate in.

Fulfilled Law: I believe that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross fulfilled most of the laws found in the Old Testament. This means that we are no longer bound to rules about diets, fabrics, or anything similar, but that we are still bound by laws about how to treat God, others, and ourselves. This is not an arbitrary distinction, but one focused on the necessity of sacrifices and our separation from God.

Prayer: I believe that Christians should be in prayer every day, not only to seek forgiveness of sins, but also to praise God and seek His help and guidance.

Healing: I believe that God can heal anyone of any ailment, but that He might choose not to for reasons we can’t always understand. A lack of healing is not a sign of sin or weak faith, but of God having a plan in place that is sometimes beyond our comprehension.

Spiritual Warfare: I believe that spiritual warfare is real and happens all around us, whether we can sense it or not. I believe that demons and angels are real, and that God helps us fight against the evils around us.

Spiritual Gifts: I believe that every believer is given at least one spiritual gift from the Holy Spirit, and that we must hone our gifts by using them in obedience to God.

Miracles: I believe that miracles still happen every day, but that we don’t always recognize miracles for what they are.

Controversial Topics

AI Content: I believe that there is a place for the ethical use of AI in support of creative endeavors, as is true of any other tool God has allowed and inspired to develop throughout history. I also believe that believers and nonbelievers alike are too quick to use AI content in place of authentic content, which is not in line with God’s plans for how people treat each other and themselves- especially due to the harm this causes to creators of all mediums everywhere.

Politics: I believe that Christians should not try to legislate our beliefs because this causes harm to others and creates a poor witness to the world. Nonbelievers are not called to live the way God expects believers to live, and forcing others to conform to our faith helps no one.

Headship: I believe that women can be called to leadership, including pastoring and eldership, just as much as men.

LGBTQIA+ Christians: I believe that being gay has no bearing on a person’s ability to be a Christian, and that only God can know if a person is truly saved.

Alcohol: I believe that the consumption of alcohol is not sinful, in and of itself. I do believe that each person is accountable for their own actions, even under the influence, and that it’s up to each individual to prayerfully consider if God would condone their actions while drinking.

Science: I believe that science is a primary way that we can study and understand the world God has created, and that science and faith can exist together quite comfortably.
